The site was founded in 2001 by Dominic Hayhoe (who is now the CEO) an ex-Army Veteran who served with the Army Catering Corps between 1986 and 1991.

The idea behind the site was to enable as many Forces Veterans as possible to reunite with each other. The idea came about when Dominic's Father express an interest in contacting some of his old forces friends as he had reached retirement age and had time on his hands!

The site has grown at an incredible rate over the last 7 years and we now currently have 501,242 registered members, creating over 4 million page impressions a month and have over 200,000 unique visitors every single month!

We have many endorsements including Simon Weston who is our Patron, SSAFA Forces Help, the British Forces Foundation and The Duke of Westminster to name but a few! We have also been featured in many press articles.

We also have some other interesting sites you may wish to visit from members discount cards, an Army Surplus and Camping Equipment shop a Genealogy site and a Careers site plus quite a few more!

The website requires a full time team of staff to run it. To answer the many requests for further info, help with editing profiles, creating our discount cards, adding new interesting site sections and sister sites, running the online shop and thinking up ways to bring in many more members, etc. etc. there's always something to do!

The site survives by the members who choose to pay for our full membership level (currently £7.50 + vat) or purchase an item from our shop or one of our other services such as our discount card. This enables us to pay our staff, pay for hosting and hardware costs (rather high as you can imagine from our traffic!) market the site to bring in many more members and to donate to the forces charities each year.

Members who choose not to opt for full membership are allowed to use many areas of the site completely free as we use the funds submitted from other areas to cover this cost, you lucky things!
